PRISON SITE TOUR STOP 3: SOUTH GATE

The South Gate was one of two entrances into Andersonville Prison, the other being the North Gate. While prisoners entered through the North Gate, only the dead came out of the South Gate. This is also where supplies were unloaded and carried into the prison. The gate no longer exists, and today its position is marked by two stone pillars.

Stop 4: Star Fort | Stop 2: North Gate/Providence Spring
