The section of Pennsylvania Avenue that runs from the U. S. Capitol to the White House is managed by the National Mall and Memorial Parks unit of the National Park system, but it is also a National Park unit itself—a National Historic Site. This means that if you are attempting to see every National Park in the system, by walking from the Capitol to the White House along Pennsylvania Avenue you can check off another park from your list. It’s not a traditional National Park unit, but it does pass a number of National Park properties, including the Old Post Office Tower (best place to take a photo from) and Pershing Square, home of the World War I National Memorial. And of course it ends at the White House, which is part of President’s Park. There’s not much more to it.
