See the Corinth Civil War Driving Tour web page for a location map and information on other Corinth battlefield sites.

Corona Female College opened in 1857 and was Corinth’s first college. Within a year the school had 90 female students from across the South. Unfortunately, the Civil War brought an end to the school. Confederate troops used the building as a hospital when they retreated to Corinth from Shiloh in April 1862, and after they abandoned the town, the new Union occupiers also used the school as a hospital. When Union troops pulled out of Corinth in January 1864 and moved to Memphis, they burned the building.

Nothing remains of the school today. National Park signage and an information panel mark the location. Pull over on the shoulder of the road to visit the site—it does not have its own parking lot.
