Shiloh National Military Park has a picnic area located on the other side of Highway 22 from the main section of the park. This is a large picnic area with more than two dozen tables, all located under a massive pavilion, though I’m sure you can move the tables into the open on a nice day. Despite the large number of tables, there is only one grill.
The pavilion is located next to a large field, so there is plenty of room for kids to run around. There is also a restroom facility.
While I didn’t see any signs at the picnic area stating that the facility can be reserved, something this large is usually open to reservation. I do know that organized groups need a permit to meet within the park, and it would make sense that if you went through all the trouble to get a permit that you wouldn’t have to show up at the crack of dawn to claim the picnic tables before anyone else arrives. If interested in hosting an event, call Shiloh National Military Park at (731) 689-5696 for more information. You can get a permit application on the National Park Service’s Permits and Reservations page for the park.
