The picnic area for Congaree National Park is located next to the Harry Hampton Visitor Center. The facility includes a pavilion with eight picnic tables and two large grills, and a dozen or so individual tables scattered about on the grounds. There are no grills with the individual tables. All tables are in a shaded area.

Those wanting to host a group event can reserve the picnic pavilion online at Recreation.gov. There is a half-day and full-day rental option. Half-day time slots are 9 AM to 1 PM and 1 PM to 5 PM. If you want the pavilion for the full day, you actually have to book both of the half-day time slots for the day of your event. If the pavilion is not reserved, anyone can use it on a first come, first served basis for up to an hour. If you plan on making a day of it, you need to pay for a reservation.

All individual tables are taken on a first come, first served basis.
