The Texas State Memorial at Gettysburg National Military Park was dedicated in 1964. Made of red granite and featuring the Texas Lone Star, this mass-produced monument is the same as every other Texas state monument on a Civil War battlefield. The only thing that changes is part of the inscription. The monument stands where the Texas Brigade, part of Lieutenant General James Longstreet’s I Corps, began its attack on Little Round Top during the second day of fighting at Gettysburg, July 2, 1863.
