SOUTH END PICNIC AREA
The main picnic area at Gettysburg National Military Park is on the southwest end of the battlefield near the Warfield Ridge stop on the Gettysburg Battlefield Tour (Stop 7). A sign along West Confederate Avenue marks the turn.
The South End Picnic Area, as it is officially called, is in a wooded area. It has fifteen tables but no grills. Picnickers are welcome to bring their own propane or butane camp stoves, but no charcoal or wood-burning grills are allowed. All tables are taken on a first come, first served basis.
A modern restroom facility is located on Emmitsburg Road. The picnic area backs up to the road, and a short, paved path leads the restroom from the tables.
VISITOR CENTER PICNIC TABLES
Picnic tables are located around the various parking lots at the Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center. There are no grills, and no fires of any type are allowed. All tables are taken on a first come, first served basis.
Parking Lot #1, the main parking lot, has a few tables located along the sidewalk to the Visitor Center. At the far end of the parking lot is a larger area of tables.
Behind the Visitor Center is a covered picnic pavilion that can be reserved for events. Again, no fires of any type are allowed.
A large picnic area with nearly two dozen tables is located in the RV Parking Lot, the one closest to the Baltimore Pike entrance. In addition to the picnic area, there is a bike rental shop.
