The South Carolina State Memorial at Gettysburg National Military Park was dedicated on July 2, 1963, on the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. The monument is adorned with the state seal and a list of regiments that fought in the battle. It is located near the spot where South Carolina troops under the command of Brigadier General Joseph Kershaw launched their July 2nd attack on the Wheatfield.
