The Loch Lomond Picnic Area in Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is located southwest of Dingmans Ferry on Wilson Hill Road in Pennsylvania. If you are using Google Maps for directions, search “LOCH LOMOND PICNIC AREA.” The facility is open year-round from dawn to dusk. There is no fee to park.
The picnic area is located next to a small lake, Loch Lomond. There are five picnic tables but no grills. Unlike other picnic areas in the park where you can bring your own grill, no fires of any type are allowed here. No glass or alcohol is permitted either.
All tables are taken on a first come, first served basis, plus they are spread out over a large area, so Loch Lomond is not an ideal place to hold a group picnic. However, you are welcome to do so. Groups of 30 or more people need a permit to gather anywhere within the park, but the permit does not mean your group has first dibs on the picnic tables. Somebody still has to be there first thing in the morning to stake a claim. The better option is to hold your outing at the Milford Beach Picnic Area, which can be reserved. For information about permits, call the special use permit coordinator for Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area at (570) 426-2440.
Loch Lomond is stocked with trout, and fishing is only allowed during trout season. It also has a wheelchair-accessible fishing deck that was originally built in the 1990s by the local Boy Scouts, though it surely has been repaired many times since then. This is the only fishing spot within Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area with disabled visitors in mind.
In addition to the picnic tables and fishing deck, Loch Lomond has a fancy outhouse. This is what Jed Clampett would call a portable toilet inside a permanent building. There are no modern facilities or running water.
