Milford Beach Picnic Area is open from 6 AM to 8 PM from mid-April through mid-October and from sunrise to sunset the rest of the year. It is comprised of a covered pavilion with eight tables underneath and a group of seven tables within a fenced area. There are also a few tables to the rear of the pavilion.

Parking is done in a common parking lot. From there you must carry your picnic supplies to the tables. It is a big parking lot, so depending on where you get a spot, you could have a 50- to 200-yard walk.

All tables at the Milford Beach Picnic Area are taken on a first come, first served basis unless they are reserved in advance. This is the only picnicking facility in Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area that can be reserved for group events (fees involved). For more information and to make a reservation, call the special use permit coordinator at (570) 426-2440. Any fees for renting the picnic area are in addition to the standard entrance fee at Milford Beach that is collected from mid-April through mid-October. Get the latest fees on the National Park Service’s official Fees and Passes web page for the park.

There are no grills at any of the picnic areas within Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. However, you can bring your own charcoal or gas grill—no ground fires are allowed. For those using charcoal, there are hot coal bins on the premises. Please dump your coals in one of these and not on the ground.

Milford Beach has two modern restrooms that are open during the fee season. Portable toilets are available the rest of the year.

As the name implies, there is a beach at Milford Beach. However, it’s not a white sand beach like on the ocean, just a cleared area along the shoreline where you can access the Delaware River.
