Glen Echo Park Historical Buildings

The Pop Corn Gallery is located at the northern end of the Arcade building at Glen Echo Park. It was built in 1940 and served as a refreshment stand during the amusement park days. An open-air seating area was on the roof. Today it serves as an art exhibition gallery and is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 PM to 6 PM year-round. For a list of ongoing exhibits, see the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture Popcorn Gallery web page.

In December 2002, the entire northern half of the Arcade building was torn down. This included the Pop Corn Gallery and the portion of the building back to where today’s taller section with the large pane of glass windows now stands. Construction on a reproduction of the Pop Corn Gallery and the newly designed taller building (the original was the same height as the rest of the Arcade building) was completed the following year, though the building did not open until 2006.
