Since the National Park Service took over Glen Echo Park in 1971, it has become a cultural center for art, music, dance classes, concerts, theatrical performances, art exhibits, social dances, and festivals. Because part of the original Baltzley Brothers’ Glen Echo real estate development in 1888 included a Chautauqua—a month-long summer camp for adults where a liberal and fine arts curriculum was taught—the current use of Glen Echo Park seems rather fitting. In 2002, management of the park activities were turned over to the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture. For a complete list of classes and events, visit www.glenechopark.org.
