NOTE: Sections of the towpath, locks and other historical structures, trails, campgrounds, picnic areas, boat ramps, and visitor centers are constantly being closed due to damage and/or repair. River Bottom Park is sandwiched between the Potomac River and the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal in Williamsport, Maryland, just down the road from the Williamsport Visitor Center. The main draw is a boat ramp and sports fields, but there are a handful of picnic tables on the grounds as well. There is a paved parking lot for those utilizing the picnic tables and playing fields, and a dirt parking lot for vehicles with boat trailers.
