NOTE: Sections of the towpath, locks and other historical structures, trails, campgrounds, picnic areas, boat ramps, and visitor centers are constantly being closed due to damage and/or repair. River Bottom Park is sandwiched between the Potomac River and the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal in Williamsport, Maryland, just down the road from the Williamsport Visitor Center. In addition to a few picnic tables and sports fields, the park has a concrete boat ramp suitable for launching motorized and hand-paddled watercraft into the Potomac River. The park is open from dawn until dusk year-round, and there is no fee to launch boats of any type.

There is a paved parking lot for those utilizing the picnic area or playing fields and a dirt parking lot for vehicles with boat trailers.
