Magnolia Plantation’s Cotton Picker Shed at Cane River Creole National Historical Park is a three-bay shed that currently houses an authentic 2-Row Cotton Picker by John Deere from the 1960s (other tractors in the shed are modern and belong to the National Park Service). The cotton picker and other machines changed cotton farming by putting an end to the sharecropping system, as there was no longer a need for a large, full-time labor force to plant and harvest the crop.
