Plains Baptist Church is located across the street from Plains High School, home to the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park Visitor Center. It is the church that Carter attended growing up and during his time in Plains before he became president. He left the church when he returned to Plains after his term as president due to its decision to ban blacks from attending.
