Group Campsite at the Davis Bayou unit of Gulf Islands National Seashore

The Davis Bayou unit of Gulf Islands National Seashore in Mississippi has a campsite for organized groups such as Boy Scouts and church groups. A group of friends cannot camp here. If you have a bunch of friends, just get multiple campsites at the main Davis Bayou Campground.

The Group Campsite is for tent camping only. It is located on Boat Launch Drive near the Davis Bayou Boat Ramp. Group size must be at least 10 and no more than 40. The campsite is situated on a level clearing with a dirt surface and surrounded by shade trees. It has picnic tables, one standard grill, and one fire pit / grill. Unlike the individual campsites at the main Davis Bayou Campground , there are no electric hookups at the group campsite, though water is available. Campers at the Group Campsite cannot use the facilities at the main campground, but they can use the restrooms just down the road at Picnic Pavilion #5.

The Group Campsite must be reserved in advance at Recreation.gov or by calling (877) 444-6777 (10 AM to midnight, EST).

The campground is gated and closed at sunset. Campers with reservations who arrive late must call (228) 230-4136 before 3:30 PM to get the gate code (you need your reservation number to get the code). Those without reservations will not be able to enter the campground after hours.

Check-in is at the office near the entrance to the main campground. The office is open from 9 AM to 4:30 PM. If you arrive after this time, check in with the campground host (the host has a campsite near the office).
