Picnic table at Fort Smith National Historic Site
While not exactly a full-blown picnic area, there are five tables (no grills) scattered around the parking lot at Fort Smith National Historic Site. All tables are newer and made of metal, so you don’t have to worry about getting splinters in your behind from sitting on an old, dilapidated wooden table. Restrooms are available in the nearby Visitor Center.
Three picnic tables are situated on concrete pads along the east side of the parking lot and are handicap accessible. They are longer tables with wheelchair space on the end. One table is out in the open while the other two are under shade trees.

Two additional tables sit under shade trees on the grass median in the middle of the parking lot.

After enjoying a bite to eat, you can burn some calories by walking the River Loop Trail or taking a stroll around the Fort Grounds.
