Located in Greensboro, North Carolina, the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park commemorates an American Revolution battle that took place on March 15, 1781. The battle resulted in an American loss to British troops under the command of General Charles Cornwallis. Though a defeat, so many British soldiers were killed or wounded that it crippled England’s efforts to stop the rebellion in the southern colonies. Cornwallis would go on to surrender at Yorktown, Virginia, just seven month later, effectively ending the war.
