PARK FILM

Another Such Victory, a 32-minute, live-action documentary about the Battle of Guilford Courthouse is shown at the top of every hour, though if there aren’t many visitors, park staff will start it for you at any time. The film has battle scenes and would probably be rated a very light PG, suitable for kids 8-years old and up. It thoroughly covers events leading up to the battle, the battle itself, and the aftermath, particularly how the British had to deal with the dead and wounded, both their own and the Americans.

A 10-minute animated map video called Fighting the Battled of Guilford Courthouse is shown every half hour starting at 9:15 AM (:15 and :45 of the hour). Troop movement and conflicts are illustrated by computer animation. As with the main park film, if you are the only one at the Visitor Center, park staff will start the show for you at any time. The video is shown in a small media room located in the Visitor Center lobby.

MUSEUM

A museum featuring both information panels and actual artifacts covers the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution, life in Guilford, the life of a soldier, how drums and fifes were used during battle, the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, and the aftermath of the battle.

SCHEDULING YOUR TIME

Another Such Victory and the animated battle map video will take up 45 minutes of your time. For those who want read all of the information panels and study all of the exhibits in the museum, plan to spend another hour. While I highly recommend watching the two films, I understand that most people have no desire to read everything in a museum. However, do allow fifteen minutes to browse through the exhibits that catch your interest. Thus, you can spend anywhere from an hour to two hours at the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park Visitor Center.
