Located in south Georgia near the rural town of Andersonville, Andersonville National Historic Site preserves the most infamous of all Civil War prison camps, Camp Sumter, today known as Andersonville Prison. In addition to the prison site, the park hosts the National Prisoner of War Museum, a large museum dedicated to POWs for all American wars, and the Andersonville National Cemetery, in which many of those who died at Andersonville Prison are buried.
