The Appalachian Trail runs from the north Georgia Mountains to the mountains of central Maine, crossing fourteen states along its 2184 mile path. To hike the entire trail would be a hiker’s equivalent to a mountaineer’s climbing of Mount Everest. Doing this is beyond the scope of National Park Planner, and thus, this web site is not the place to come for details on the trail. Visit the National Park Service’s official Appalachian National Scenic Trail web site or one of many web sites specifically about the Appalachian Trail for information.
If during my travels to other National Parks I cross paths with the Appalachian Trail I will provide a trail review and other basic information. Please see the National Park Planner Appalachian National Scenic Trail web page for details.
With a few exceptions, use of any photograph on the National Park Planner website requires a paid Royalty Free Editorial Use License or Commercial Use License. See the Photo Usage page for details.
