Start of the River Trail at Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens

Start of the River Trail at Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens

Length: .3 mile, one way
Time: 5 minutes
Difficulty: Easy

The River Trail is a connector trail that leads to the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail, a multi-use paved path open to hikers, bikers, and skaters. The Aquatic Garden’s River Trail serves as nothing more than an entry point onto the longer trail, so there is no reason to take it unless you plan to hike or bike on the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail.

Once at the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail, heading to the left will take you to the south end of Anacostia Park, about five miles, and a right will lead out of the park and on to Bladensburg Waterfront Park, about two miles away.
