Rosecrans headquarters marker
Union General William Rosecrans’ headquarters site is located about .75 mile north of the Stones River battlefield on Old Nashville Highway. From the Visitor Center, exit onto Old Nashville and turn left. The site is on the left just before you pass a couple of lakes and is served by a small parking area along side the road.
Typical of monuments at Civil War battlefield headquarters sites, the Rosecran Headquarters is marked with a monument of cannonballs stacked into a pyramid. Other than taking a photo, there’s not much else to do. This stop is for the true Civil War fanatic.
