BOAT RAMP DETAILS
The NY DEC boat ramp in Narrowsburg is the nicest within the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River. It has a huge parking lot for 24 vehicles with trailers and a wide, concrete ramp. There are no portable toilets, but there is a gas station right across the street.
While this is a great place to start a paddling trip on the Delaware River, on a nice summer day this ramp may be packed with people trying to launch their motorboats. I’ve read that things sometimes get so chaotic that fights break out. If you are planning a trip on a busy day, you might want to use the Skinners Falls Canoe Launch just five miles upriver or the Ten Mile River Canoe Launch six miles downriver. These are for non-motorized boats only.
If you are ending a river trip at the Narrowsburg NY DEC ramp, it is on the New York (left) side of the river prior to the Narrowsburg-Darbytown Bridge. When you see the private ramp for Lander’s River Trips, start heading to the New York side, as the ramp is just around the corner. It is hidden behind a small island, so unless you know it’s there, you won’t see it until passing the island. I went around the island on the main channel (to the right), but the narrower channel to the left is more of a direct route to the boat ramp. However, I’m not sure about the water level of the left channel. If you want to be on the safe side, stick to the main channel. It doesn’t add much distance to the trip. Also, to stay in the deepest water, approach the ramp straight on.
