Picnic area at Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site

A picnic area at Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site is located on a hill between the upper level of the Visitor Center parking lot and a maintenance building. There are approximately a dozen picnic tables, most under shade trees. These are quality tables made of recycled plastic, so you don’t have to worry about getting splinters. There are no grills, but you can bring your own charcoal or gas grill. You must take your used charcoal with you from the park. You cannot dump it on park grounds.

All tables are taken on a first come, first served basis, so that makes the Hopewell Furnace Picnic Area a less-than-desirable location for a group picnic. However, there is no reason why you can’t host one here. Somebody in your group just has to show up early to get the tables, and if you have more than 30 people attending, you will need a Permit. If you have any questions about hosting a group event, contact the park at (610) 582-8773.
