The Sugar Shack at Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area’s Millbrook Village is a reproduction of a typical mid-1800s sugar shack that was built in the 1970s by the National Park Service. Sugar shacks are where sap from maple trees is boiled into maple syrup. While most maple syrup is produced in Canada, and in the United States, Vermont, there is a small maple syrup industry in Pennsylvania.
