See the Boat Launches web page for an interactive boat ramp location map.
TYPE
Hand-launched watercraft only (canoes, kayaks, rafts, etc.).
LOCATION
The Caddoo Access Canoe Launch is located on the New Jersey side of the Delaware River less than a mile north of Milford Beach. If using Google Maps for directions, search “Caddo Access.” The name is spelled wrong on Google, so if you search the correct name, Caddoo with two Os, you will come up empty. There are no signs on the road identifying the turn, so you must know where you are going.
Caddoo Access is closed on weekends and holidays during the tourist season.
FEES
There is no fee to use the Caddoo Access Canoe Launch.
BOAT RAMP DETAILS
The Caddoo Access Canoe Launch is the northernmost point within Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area where you can launch a canoe, kayak, raft, or other hand-paddled watercraft. It is better suited as a launch point than a take-out point because if you are traveling downriver from Port Jervis, you will never see it unless you know exactly where it is. I paddled right past it despite not only looking for it, but also having its location plotted on my hiking GPS unit. The landing area is a cobblestone-covered clearing on the shore, but there are many like it along the Delaware River. If you don’t notice a narrow foot path cut through the vegetation, you will float right on by. There is no sign identifying the canoe launch on the river bank (which would be nice to have at all the boat launches within the park).

I had to drive to Caddoo Access after my trip down the Delaware River just to see what I missed. There is a large dirt parking lot, and the river is just 100 feet away. The path down to the river is a little narrow, but other than that, Caddoo Access is a decent launch point. Still, unless you are looking to get in a little extra paddling—or you are wanted by police in Pennsylvania—I suggest using the canoe launch at Milford Beach where there is a concrete parking lot and restrooms. Keep in mind that there is a fee to park at Milford Beach from mid-April to mid-October (no fee for drop-offs). Caddoo Access, which is just .75 mile upriver, is free to use.
