A small picnic area of about a dozen tables—no grills—is located on the west side of Kill Devil Hill at Wright Brothers National Memorial. A park road circles the dune, and you can drive your car around it. Parking is located next to the picnic area, which is also next to the First Flight Airport, an actual airstrip for small planes owned by the National Park Service. You can’t enter the airstrip, but there is a building for the pilots that has a public restroom. You can also walk to the top of Kill Devil Hill from here.
