Upstream end of Lock 73 at Mile 175.4 on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal towpath
Lock 73 is located at Mile 175.4 on the C&O Canal towpath. It is 200 yards downstream from the Lock 74 parking area. See the Locks and Lockhouses web page for an interactive location map.
All that remains of Lock 73 on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal are its stone retaining walls, which are in very good condition. The wooden gates and hardware no longer exist. It is within sight distance of Lock 74.
