WALKING TOUR STOP 19
Ridge 1 North
Stop 19 on the walking tour of the Poverty Point archaeological site is at the northern tip of Ridge 1. The ridge is located on the other side of the park road from the actual tour stop and is defined by tall grass. Without this grass, most likely you wouldn’t see a thing since the ridges in the open fields tend to be whittled down to nothing. The Hiking Trail Guide mentions a circular depression a little east of this spot that was filled with brick fragments, most likely from an early European occupation or settlement that has long been forgotten. However, this depression is nowhere in sight.
