Back to Bowmans Island Unit Main Page
Horseback riding is allowed on the trails within the Bowmans Island unit of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (see Bowmans Island Hiking Trails for trail info). However, horse entry into the unit is limited to the Trout Place Road trailhead (see Bowmans Island Directions and Parking). Horses cannot cross the footbridge at the Lower Pool parking lot, nor can then enter the trail at Old Trail Court, both northern trailhead entrances.
For the record, I did not see any horses during my hikes, nor did I see any “evidence” of horses being on the trails.
With a few exceptions, use of any photograph on the National Park Planner website requires a paid Royalty Free Editorial Use License or Commercial Use License. See the Photo Usage page for details.
