There are five hiking trails within Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument. For details and plenty of photographs, see the following web pages.

Lava’s Edge Trail
3.6-mile round trip, moderate

A’a Trail
.2-mile round trip, easy with a few steep, rocky spots

Bonito Vista Trail
.3-mile round trip, paved and easy

Lenox Crater Trail
1.6-mile loop, moderate

Lava Flow Trail
.4-mile paved upper loop, easy
.7-mile lower loop, moderate

Note that no pets are allowed on any of the earthen trails within the park. They are allowed on the paved section of the Lava Flow Trail and the paved Bonito Vista Trail. The reason for this is that the lava rocks are sharp and can injure your pet’s feet.
