Ocmulgee National National Historical Park preserves earthen mounds built between 900 and 1100 AD by an ancient Indian culture. The park is located in Macon, Georgia, a city about an hour and a half south of Atlanta. The park also contains a Civil War earthwork from the Battle of Walnut Creek and sites of early European trading posts established to trade with the Creek Indians.
