CANOE LAUNCH DETAILS
The Ten Mile River Canoe Launch is deluxe as far as canoe launches go. Paddlers can pull up close to the shore in their vehicles and unload their boats and gear, and there is a large gravel parking area.

The launch is so deluxe that it would seem to be a facility for all types of boats, including motorboats. However, the shoreline is very muddy. In fact, this is a geological feature of this area that is caused by sediments in the water dropping to the bottom when the faster flowing Ten Mile River empties into the slower moving Delaware River. I sunk up to the tops of my ankles when getting out of my kayak. Depending on the amount of rain, the mud can be as deep as a foot and a half. Because vehicles and boat trailers can get stuck in this mud, the Ten Mile River launch is for hand-paddled watercraft only and not motorboats. I did see trailer tracks in the water, so not everyone follows the rules.

The Ten Mile River Canoe Launch is the only public ramp on the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River actually owned by the National Park Service. The rest are owned by either the New York Department of Environmental Conservation or the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.

If you are ending your trip on the Delaware River at Ten Mile River or just want to pull over to take a break, once you go under the Tusten Station Railroad Bridge you have a little over a mile left to go. The launch is located on the New York (left) side of the river just past the confluence of the Delaware and Ten Mile rivers.
