The Washington Monument was the first memorial to be erected on the National Mall in Washington D. C. It honors George Washington, the first President of the United States and one of the country’s Founding Fathers. Free tickets are given out each day that allow visitors to take an elevator ride to the top of the monument for the best views of Washington D. C.
