The southern end of the Glover-Archbold Trail from P Street to Foxhall Road is under an emergency closure until further notice due to debris falling from the dilapidated Foundry Branch Trolley Bridge.

Glover-Archbold Park is a sub-unit of Rock Creek Park that is located between Wisconsin Avenue and Foxhall Road in Washington, D. C. One section of the park was donated to the National Park Service in 1924 by Charles Glover, while a second section was donated in 1925 by Anne Archbold. Today the park is used almost exclusively by local residents looking for a place to hike.

I rode around the entire park and found it to be a huge, undeveloped area that is completely surrounded by homes and business. There is no parking at all within the park, so you must park on the street near one of the trailheads that leads into the park’s interior. These short trails connect to a three-mile trail that runs north to south down the center of the park and follows Boundary Branch, a small creek that feeds into the Potomac River. Other than a community garden (42^nd Street and New Mexico Avenue), hiking is the only activity in the park.

Below are the locations of the trailheads—I omitted those where you must park in front of somebody’s house. The list begins at the southern end of the park and works its way north in a clockwise direction. All streets have a NW designation.

• Canal Road at the fork with Foxhall Road, but there the is no parking anywhere near here other than at Georgetown University
• 44^th Street south of Greenwich Parkway
• Corner of 44^th Street and Reservoir Road
• Corner of 44^th Street and Dexter Street
• Near the intersection of Garfield Street and Glover Drive
• Garfield Street near the corner of New Mexico Avenue
• Massachusetts Avenue near the corner of Macomb Street
• Corner of Van Ness Street and 40^th Place
• Corner of 40^th Place and Upton Street
• Near the corner of 39^th Street and Newark Street
• Corner of 42^nd Street and Davis Place
• 42^nd Street near the corner of Beecher Street
• 42^nd Street near to where is becomes W Street
• End of 39^th Street near the corner with W Street—this actually leads into Whitehaven Park, which is also part of Rock Creek Park, and you can take a right on the main trail and hike into Glover-Archbold Park
