BOAT RAMP DETAILS
While the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River officially ends 2.3 miles upriver at Sparrowbush, New York, many boaters and paddlers may wish to continue farther. The next take-out point is the Matamoras Boat Ramp, a concrete ramp that can accommodate all types of boats. If you don’t have a permit to use a PFBC ramp or need to exit in New York due to having a warrant for your arrest in Pennsylvania, there is another concrete boat ramp at West End Park just .75 mile farther down on the opposite side of the river. You can’t miss either of these ramps.
The Matamoras Boat Ramp is located across the street from a police station, which may cause people to panic about parking in the wrong place and getting a ticket. The parking area along the road serves as public parking for the ramp and police station. The only restriction is that you can’t park on the grass.
There are a few riffles just before the Matamoras Boat Ramp, but the water at the actual ramp is very calm, making this an easy exit or launching point for a trip on the Delaware River.
