Free public launch for non-motorized watercraft only. No licenses or permits are needed to launch non-motorized boats in New York. This ramp is owned by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NY DEC).

LOCATION
NY 97 between Barryville and Lackawaxen. If using Google Maps, it is just east of Cedar Rapids Bar and Grill. The canoe launch has a separate parking area from the highway.

CANOE LAUNCH DETAILS
The Highland NY DEC Canoe Launch was renovated in 2023. You must carry your boat and gear from the parking area down a pathway to the water. In the past, this was a gravel path and the incline was quite steep. The new path is paved and not as steep.
