BOAT RAMP DETAILS
When starting a paddling trip down the Delaware River within the boundaries of the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River, the first public access point is at the NY DEC facility in Hancock. The water in this area is very calm, so this is an easy and convenient place to launch a boat.

The Hancock Canoe Launch has a large, dirt parking lot that can hold 15 vehicles. You must carry your boat and gear to the water, which is no more than 100 feet away.

There are also three picnic tables—no grills—right along the Delaware River.

There is an island just downriver from the boat ramp, so stay to the right of it on the larger of the two channels that flow around the island. To do so, start heading over to the other side (Pennsylvania side) of the river as soon as you launch your boat.
