TYPE
Free public launch for non-motorized watercraft only. No licenses or permits are needed to launch non-motorized boats in New York. This ramp is owned by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NY DEC).
LOCATION
Base of the Barryville-Shohola Bridge on the New York side of the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River. The parking lot is located at the corner of NY 97 and Brooks Road, but to reach it you must turn at the Barryville General Store on NY 97 a tenth of a mile west of the intersection and then take a left on River Road. If using Google Maps, search Barryville NY DEC Access for directions.
There is also a canoe launch on the down-river side of the bridge, but this is a private launch that belongs to a river outfitter.
CANOE LAUNCH DETAILS
The Barryville Canoe Launch is not the most convenient place to start a river trip, but it’s not the worst either. The main drawback is that you must carry your boat and gear a tenth of a mile from the parking lot to the river. A grass path leads down to the launch point.

If ending a river trip at Barryville from upstream, the ramp is located on the New York (left) side of the river at the base of the Barryville-Shohola Bridge before going under it. There are some small rapids just before coming to the bridge.
