TYPE

The Fireman’s Eddy Boat Ramp (aka Firemen’s Eddy, aka Firemans Eddy) can accommodate both trailer-launched and hand-launched watercraft.

LOCATION

Fireman’s Eddy is part of New Jersey’s Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park. It is located off of River Road two miles south of Lambertville. If using Google Maps, search “FIREMANS EDDY BOAT RAMP.”

FEES

Use of the Fireman’s Eddy Boat Ramp requires a fee-based permit from Memorial Day through Labor Day for launching any type of watercraft including canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, rowboats, rafts, and sailboats without a motor. This applies to everyone, even out-of-state paddlers who are just in New Jersey on vacation. To complicate matters further for those coming from out-of-state, permits cannot be purchased online. Daily or annual permits must be purchased at the Bulls Island Main Office at 2185 Daniel Bray Highway in Stockton. See the Launch Ramp Permit Information Sheet on the New Jersey government website for more information.

BOAT RAMP DETAILS

Fireman’s Eddy Boat Ramp is concrete and suitable for launching all types of small watercraft. There is parking, but not directly at the ramp. Fireman’s Eddy is the staging ground for river rescues—because the Lambertville Wing Dam is just upriver—and the area near the ramp is reserved for rescue vehicles.
