Length: .75-mile round trip
Time: 30 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
When driving down Highway 370 from the Mississippi’s Final Stands Interpretive Center, just before you get to the Brices Cross Roads National Battlefield Site is a parking area on the left. This is the start of a .75-mile round trip hike that takes you through the area where the battle began on June 10, 1864. You will actually be walking from the second lines of battle (second part of the fight) towards the first lines of battle where the fighting began, so you are walking backwards in time.
There are only three wayside exhibits on the trail. The first is not far from the start and just gives an overview of the history of the battle. The next two exhibits are towards the end. Both describe the fighting that took place in this area around 10 AM on June 10, 1864. The trail ends at the third wayside exhibit. The round trip walk takes about 30 minutes.
