Ranger from Boston National Historical Park conducts a tour of the Freedom Trail

National Park Service Rangers at Boston National Historical Park lead free tours of the Freedom Trail® on a daily basis from Memorial Day weekend through the end of October. Tour details change each season, but due to the length of the Freedom Trail, tours will never cover the trail in its entirety, and none of the historical sites are entered, so you must ultimately walk the trail yourself. However, taking a Ranger-guided tour is a great way to learn some of the basics about the historic sites before setting out on your own.

To get the current schedule of tours, visit the Things to Do web page for Boston National Historical Park (scroll down to get to the Guided Tours section). Special events are also held throughout the year, and you can get a schedule on the park’s Calendar web page.

There are private tours given by the Freedom Trail Foundation that cover much more ground, but there is a cost.
