MASSACHUSETTS STATE HOUSE TOUR STOP 6
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
The sixth stop on a tour of the Massachusetts State House is the House of Representatives Chamber. The room is only open to tourists when the representatives are not in session, but there is a gallery overlooking the room where you can enter and see the government at work.
All of the desks and chairs are original to the 1890s addition to the State House. Murals by artist Albert Herter called the Milestones on the Road to Freedom in Massachusetts adorn the upper walls. The names above the murals comprise a list of the 53 most important men in Massachusetts history.
