Living History program at Appomattox Court House National Historical Park

There are no guided tours of Appomattox Court House National Historical Park, but park Rangers do offer informative talks about the town’s Civil War history most days from April through September. Also popular are living history talks that are held multiple times each day. These consist of a park Ranger or volunteer who dresses in period costume and talks as if it is really 1865. Characters vary by day and time. Programs last up to one hour.

Special events are also held at the park, including a multi-day commemoration of the events that took place at Appomattox Court House in April 1865.

For a schedule of Ranger talks and Living History programs, see the National Park Service’s official Ranger Talks and Living History at Appomattox web pages for Appomattox Court House National Historical Park. For a schedule of Special Events, see the park’s Special Events web page.
