There are no large picnicking facilities for group events at Fort Donelson National Battlefield. There are, however, two locations where individuals and families can have a bite to eat while visiting the park. One is at the Dover Hotel where a single picnic table is available (no grill).

A second location is a small picnic area overlooking the Cumberland River (now Lake Barkley) just down the road from Stop 3: Log Huts on the driving tour of the battlefield. To get there from Stop 3, just keep driving straight until the road ends. Steps lead down from the parking lot to the tables.

There are four picnic tables with nice views of the water—no grills—and a modern restroom. All tables are taken on a first come, first served basis and cannot be reserved.
