Though not on the Valley Forge National Historical Park map, there is a fairly large picnic area at the Artillery Park stop on the Valley Forge Encampment Tour. A dozen tables (no grills) are located in an open field next to the parking lot. All tables are taken on a first come, first served basis. Keep in mind that groups of more than 20 people cannot use this facility. Such groups must picnic at Wayne’s Woods Picnic Area, Varnum’s Picnic Area, or the Betzwood Picnic Area.

The Joseph Plumb Martin Trail runs right in front of the Artillery Park Picnic Area, making it a convenient rest stop for this hiking or biking the trail.

In addition to the picnic tables, there is a modern restroom and a historically accurate reproduction of a typical cabin built by the soldiers who camped at Valley Forge. It is not open.
