McMillan Woods Youth Campground at Gettysburg National Military Park

The only campground within Gettysburg National Military Park is one for organized youth groups, the McMillan Woods Youth Campground. Any adults using the campground must be legitimate supervisors such as a scoutmaster or counselor. There must be one adult supervisor for every ten youths. Depending on the campsite, groups can range from 15 to 35 people.

The McMillan Woods Youth Campground is located on West Confederate Avenue just north of the North Carolina Memorial stop on the Gettysburg Battlefield Tour. It is in a wooded area, but there are also open fields at each campsite. The campground is for tents only—no RVs—and tents can be pitched under the trees or on the field.

Camping season runs from April 1st through October 31st. You must make a reservation in advance at Recreation.gov. There is no charge for camping, but there is a reservation fee ($9 at the time of this writing).

Each campsite has a firepit / grill and a couple of picnic tables. Cooking is allowed on the grill or on your own propane or gas camp stove. If the tables at your campsite aren’t enough, there is a covered pavilion with multiple tables, though this must be shared by all campers.
