There are two hiking trails in the main section of Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site near Cresson, Pennsylvania, and one trail at the Staple Bend Tunnel near Johnstown. All trails add to the historical experience of a visit to the park, passing both former sites and exisiting structures used by the Allegheny Portage Railroad.
